Kala Festival 2019
For its second year Kala Festival returns to the beautiful Albanian Riviera for a week of partying under the sun and stars.
Kala is Albania’s first ever international music festival. The festival offers so much more than just music and partying; it is a place to relax and explore with friends. With wellness and yoga sessions, as well as day excursions to local history sites, the Kala festival experience really is unique. DGTL have a breadth of experience working at festivals but 2019 was only the second year of Kala and although the location looks idyllic, working in such an environment is not without its challenges, especially when relying on local boat transport!
Despite huge nighttime headliners such as Hunee and Inner City, the chilled holiday vibes during the day, were just as important to capture for the content. Kala wanted to ensure that the content reflected the unique hybrid of relaxing retreat and vibrant party which would appeal to a variety of different people and their interests.
A short highlights edit was released at the close of the festival with the rest of the content due to be released over the next 6 months. The scope of the brief was varied with multiple mini edits showcasing different experiences available at Kala; secret beach parties, great local food, water sports and luxury hotels. With so much going on, it was important the team managed the schedule in the right way to ensure all elements were captured.
What we did
How we created the content
The content produced reflects the variety and atmosphere of Kala. Three members of the team flew out a couple of days before the start of the festival to get some site and accommodation content with the rest of the team following a few days later. The team tended to work in shifts ensuring at least two people were fresh and ready to capture the night content; with stages on until 8 am some mornings and yoga starting at 10am, it was important everyone got (some) sleep.
What was the final result?
We produced a short highlights video immediately following the festival which was edited on site; please see the video above. A consistent flow of other content will now be produced for social and promotional purposes.
