Newcastle University Ski & Snowboard Club
We produced a wide range of high end content for one of the UK’s biggest Snowsports clubs, working in partnership with Wasteland Ski
Newcastle University ski and snowboard club (NUSSC) is one of our longest standing clients. 2018/19 season was our fourth working directly for the club in association with the tour operator Wasteland Ski. Over the last four years, we have been given the licence to experiment and push the creative boundary on what can be done for a minimal budget.
This year we wanted to introduce a more story driven film which placed customer experiences at the heart of the content. The client brief also requested a more modern and relevant style by introducing a social element of user-generated content (UGC) side by side with professional video. On top of this our general aim, as ever, was to improve the cinematography in line with our more commercial focussed work.
What we did
How we created the content
The initial idea for this years NUSSC aftermovie was to showcase the reality of student snow experiences vs the sensible and tranquil perception painted for the parents back home. The story then developed into presenting typical ski resort experiences; arrivals, learning to ski or board, experiencing French cuisine and taking in the views – only we wanted to highlight the differences between the student existence and the typical tourist perception. The story ends with the posting of the postcard and then the beginning of the event film.
What was the final result?
We produced a full length aftermovie on a tight turnaround for showing at the clubs end of year ball. In addition, we produced a range of content for social media; 12 short videos in total.
On the photography side we delivered 6 albums of photos, and one overall highlight album for the week.
