University of Nottingham Students’ Union (UoN SU) is a charity, separate to the University of Nottingham, that is there for everyone; undergraduate or postgraduate, home or international student. Their role is to make sure that everyone have the best student and educational experience possible throughout their time at the University of Nottingham.
We were approached by the marketing department at UoN SU and tasked with developing a video to educate and inform new student starters for the 2017 academic year, what services and opportunities were available through the Students’ Union. The form was to be a short, engaging video, packed with content and delivered in a way to encourage people to get involved.
We took ownership of the project after the initial brief and budget had been set. We were instructed to gather footage from various sources as well as our own archives. After analysing the existing assets and comparing with the script, we decided to film additional footage of the Students’ Union Officers and some B roll of activities on campus. Following an initial edit, we agreed with the client to schedule a second filming day to reshoot one Officer’s talk and gather additional B roll footage of the university open day to enrich the existing content.
We finalised the edit and after approval from the client, we proceeded with mastering the audio and colour grade for the final finished draft.
