Varsity 2016

The Brief

This year the Nottingham Varsity Series was bigger than ever, with 37 matches, 31 sports across 13 venues between the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. Before the series started we were asked by the Students Union to create two promotional videos; one as a showcase of last years event to create excitement around this years series and another to promote the Basketball event at Motorpoint Arena.
We were also tasked with providing full photography coverage of all games over the three week series. This was a large amount of events to cover, often with conflicting games at different venues across Nottingham. All of the images needed to be edited and exported by the following afternoon to be uploaded to each universities respective Students Union Facebook pages.

What We Did

The videos proved to provide brilliant exposure collectively receiving 13,000 views in a matter of days. The Varsity Basketball sold more tickets than ever before, nearly selling out the 8,000 capacity Motorpoint Arena.

The photos were outstanding, receiving huge reach on Facebook and massive amounts of interaction and publicity for the individual sports and the series. There are plans for many of the images to be used in branding for the University of Nottingham, the Students Union and the Sports Department, as well as to be printed in large format to display around the university facilities including the currently under construction, David Ross Sports Village. The Varsity Series has given us the opportunity to demonstrate our adaptability and experience to shoot almost any sport; whether it’s on horses, at the swimming pool or out on the field.
